M Whiteford is a writer and editor. She lives in Manhattan, where she edits exhibition catalogues and didactics at the Studio Museum in Harlem. Her art writing has appeared in Artforum, The Believer, Brooklyn Rail, BOMB, GARAGE, Liber, Ursula, X-TRA, and more. She is the author of The Shapes  We Make With Our Bodies  (Plays Inverse, 2015), the Curator’s Choice for the 2017 BAM Next Wave Festival Reading Room. This work was performed at the Women’s Center for Creative Work in Los Angeles and The Hive in Brooklyn. Her collaborative adaptation of Maurice Maeterlinck’s  Pelléas and Mélisande, cowritten and performed with Tim Reid, was staged at the PICA Time-Based Art Festival in Portland, and PAM and Machine Project in Los Angeles. She is currently working on a novel.
